Foot Pain and Injury Assessment
Foot, heel and lower limb pain rarely happens without a reason. Our pain and injury assessment in Worthing is designed to find that reason, so we can address what is actually causing your discomfort rather than treating the symptom in isolation. This is the assessment we recommend for persistent pain, recurring injuries and problems that have not responded to other approaches.
What is a pain and injury assessment?
A pain and injury assessment is a full biomechanical evaluation of how your feet and legs move. Understanding the mechanics of your movement is the key to lasting relief, and it is what allows us to prescribe the right treatment the first time rather than by trial and error.
What the assessment covers
We take a detailed history, examine the joints, muscles and range of movement in your feet and legs, and carry out gait analysis to see how you walk. We also use Footscan pressure plate analysis, which measures how load moves through your feet in real time. Together, these give us a clear, objective picture of what is happening rather than an educated guess.
Conditions we assess
The assessment is suitable for a wide range of problems, including plantar fasciitis and heel pain, flat feet or fallen arches, high arched feet, Achilles tendon pain, forefoot pain, Morton’s neuroma, bunions, arthritis affecting the feet, shin splints and tibialis posterior dysfunction. Because foot alignment affects the whole leg, we also assess knee, hip and lower back pain linked to the way you walk, and sports related overuse injuries.
What happens after your assessment
Once we understand the cause of your pain, we will explain our findings in plain language and recommend a treatment plan. This might include custom orthotics prescribed from your assessment data, K-Laser therapy for soft tissue injuries, footwear advice, exercises, or a combination. You will leave knowing what is wrong and what we are going to do about it.

Pain and Injury Assessment FAQs
How is this different from a routine podiatry appointment?
Routine podiatry focuses on nail and skin care. A pain and injury assessment looks at how your feet and legs move to find the cause of pain and injury, using gait and pressure analysis.
Do I need to bring anything?
It helps to bring the shoes you wear most often, including any trainers used for sport, so we can see how your footwear affects your movement. Also comfortable clothing like shorts/sportswear may be beneficial.
Will I definitely need orthotics?
Not necessarily. Orthotics are one option among several. We only recommend them if the assessment shows they are the right treatment for you.
Can you help with knee, hip or back pain?
Often, yes, where the pain is linked to foot and lower limb alignment. The assessment will show whether this is a factor for you.
